The two-person technical steering group has been hard at work. You saw Valtteri Hall (Nokia) and Imad Sousou on a launch video on Day 1 and one can only imagine that they’ve been extremely busy between then and now; especially as they’ye under such tight targets:
Nokia and Intel have set the target to open the MeeGo repository by the end of this month.
Thats the information that Valteri gave in a blog post a few days ago and it means that although there are a lot of similarities in Maemo and Moblin, there’s still a huge amount of work to do to get the stacks merged together.
Don’t expect to be running MeeGo on your netbook or N900 straight away though…
What is scheduled to be available then is the first and very raw baseline to a source and binary repository to build MeeGo trunk on Intel ATOM boards and Nokia N900.
Many questions still remain. For example, there are many flavors of ‘Atom’ board. Which one will they work with? Pinetrail would make the most sense but then again, most of the netbooks out there are running with the older Diamondville silicon. Will they build GMA500, GMA3150 and GMA950 support into the stack?
